Declutter As You Spring Clean

Keeping your house clean will be easier from week to week if the space has been thoroughly decluttered. If you can look at the spring cleaning process as a chance to rearrange the space as well as get rid of items that no longer serve your decorating preferences, you can declutter your way into a more efficient, comfortable home.

Look for unused items

Walk around your home and look for items you like but don't use. For example, if you have a trunk holding sweaters you no longer wear, donate or sell the sweaters. 

Determine what spaces feel cluttered

As you go through your home, look at areas that feel cluttered to you. For example, you may have too many blanket throws in your living room. If they all get used, you need more storage. The trunk you emptied could become a useful storage tool, extra seating, or even a coffee table with a little reconfiguring.

Clean your spaces before you rearrange

Once you determine what needs to be rearranged and better organized, clean the space from top to bottom. Sweep the light fixtures and dust photos and wall shelving. Call
